Special dishes for Diwali you can make with bread

Festive vibes are soaring high and it’s a well-known fact that Diwali festivities are officially the yummiest time of the year. With a plethora of appetizing delicacies to snack on, it’s the favorite time of the year of food lovers.

Most homes rely on the nearest sweet shop to get a variety of desi and delicious snacks, but it doesn’t have to be the same this year.

We shy away from making sweets or snacks at home thinking they are really tough to make, it couldn’t be more untrue!

1.Shahi Tukda

The name itself is synonyms to royalty and tastes sinfully good. This delectable dessert is not too tough to make too.

MAKING

1. In a pan add sugar and water. Cook till the sugar is dissolved and falls like a string from the spoon. Let the concoction cool.

2. Take another pan and add the ghee or clarified butter. Cut each slice of bread into 2 triangles. Add the bread triangles to the hot ghee and fry them till the bread is crisp.

3. Put the sugar syrup back on the heat. Add the fried bread slices to the syrup. Flip the sides till the bread is completely soaked in sugar syrup.

4. Turn off the flame and add rose (kewra) water to the pan and take the slices of bread out on a plate.

SERVING

5. Garnish it with rabri (reduced milk), roasted cashew nuts, pistachios, and edible silver leaf.

6. Veggie-filled Pakodas

Any Indian occasion seems incomplete without freshly out of the pan pakodas. These spicy treats make the perfect antidote to the overdoes of sweets during this time of the year.

MAKING

1. In a large bowl, place the chickpea flour (Besan) and drizzle in sesame oil. Mix with hands and add in the water as required to make a batter, with the same constancy as a pancake.

2. Season with the spices according to your preferences. Our top picks are Garam Masala, Cumin powder, Coriander powder, Ajwain with turmeric and salt. Mix all the ingredients well.

4. In a pan, heat the oil to 350 degrees F and scoop out the mixture. Deep fry for 4 – 6 minutes or until golden brown.
